Byte-order, alignment, LSB, etc.

While we''re on this subject, if you''re using little endian, (Intell chips) and you do a binary shift, wouldn''t that mess up the number? (if it''s over 1 byte) I sometimes do this to quickly multiply/divide a number by 2. (I''m on a Mac and it uses big-endian)

Bit shifts on little endian machines work just fine.
