Hello all, I am working on per pixel lighting, and I am happy to say that I have got it working, there is just one thing that I am not happy with, and its the lightmaps. Our artist has done his best to produce a completely smooth lightmap, and it looks very smooth in graphics editors and stuff, but when I load it as a texture in OpenGL and use it as a lightmap... I can clearly see where the colours change in the lightmap. Is there any way of smoothing this effect as I have noticed that OpenGL seems to make textures more dithered, and it annoys me a lot. Thanks for your time. - Weasalmongler

Make sure that the internal format is 8bit per channel (GL_INTENSITY8 for monochrome lightmaps, or GL_RGB8 for colour lightmaps). If you use less, you''ll get colour banding artifacts.

Moved to OpenGL forum.
