Hello to all of you. I need an economical 3D modeling software package. I''ve been looking into Corel Bryce 5 ($300). Any Thoughts on that idea? If you could suggest any good alternatives it''d be great. Thanks in advance.

If you''re looking to make game models, bryce is not good at all.
It''s only good for terrains, it has no real modeling tools.
If you want cheap and powerful, get Blender. It''s free and there are scripts that allow you to export it to any format you wish.
It supports NURBS, UV mapping, and many other features.
You can download Blender @ http://www.elysiun.com/download.php .
as cheap as it gets, free

blender is good too but its well dead now, the company went under so its not likely to be updated any time soon
also you might want to check out Carrara studio 2

its by the guys who made Ray Dream Studio its $399.00 and is one of the best 3d packages that you can get.

Blender is going open source, so it''s far from dead....it will be bigger than ever
Amapi 3D is a good one too. get a trial version at www.eovia.com
you can also export stuff from it to 3DS Max too I think.
