In need for an AI book which starts from the beginning
Hi, I am currently trying to find a fairly introductory but practical book on General AI that concentrates more on the implementation aspects. Do you guys have any to recommend?
Well, I know you said general AI, but if you want something that focuses on implementation and gaming check out AI Game Programming Wisdom. Each chapter pretty much stands alone so you could read a chapter or two at the store and see if its what you like. I haven''t read any other AI books that were very approachable or applicable for gaming.

Also, the Game Programming Gems books have AI sections that contain implementation and gaming specific AI. Not to mention they are great sources for Game Design and other game develoment issues.

By general AI do you mean general techniques of AI applicable to games, or in fact a general book on AI techniques (that are not necessarily applicable to games)? As a suggestion, check out the Books & Software link at the top of this page. That''s a starting point.
