help! : mixing 2d/3d graphics in open gl

how do you mix 2d and 3d graphics together in open gl? i''m trying to put up a 2d background (backdrop) with a 3d mesh in front. what i''m doing is rendering the background in ortho() first, and then i change the projection to perspective() so i can get a perspective view of the object. but the 3d object won''t show up (it''s hidden behind the 2d image). i changed the order or rendering, and it still didn''t work. i tried relocating the 3d object, it still didn''t work. suggestions please?!?!?!? a2k

Yo,

One solution is to disable Z-Buffer writes while drawing your image, using glDepthMask. After drawing your image, enable Z-Buffer writes again and draw your Mesh... that should do the trick!
