gaming industry

I''m just getting into java then will move to c++, and i was just wondering what kind of industry there is for gaming? is the pay good? is there lots of programmers needed?? is apps a better direction to head (more money)? If i was gonna learn apps as well would java be the way to go for both? if answering could u put the question then answer, thnx Agre55or

If your in it just for the money go for database programming. Game developers make games because they love it, not because they make as much money as Bill Gates.
Game programers work many more hours than what they get payed for. If you don''t love games, and you don''t think that you would love programming games, then go for applications. You will work normal hours there and get paid more.
Having worked as a application developer I have found that you can work those hours writing applications as well at times. If I had a choice though I''d definately prefer a night working on a game then a application.
