Speed issues

I''m running an AMD K6-2 500 with 128MB RAM and a Savage4 (16MB) 3D card. I can run games like halflife at a respectable speed, but when I try to do anything myself, even just a couple of cubes, it seems to be too slow. Can anyone suggest reasons/solutions for this please? I''m quite new to OGL and would like to get this sorted before trying anything else.

What do you consider a couple? 3? 1000? 10^9?

If you want to increase performance with static vertex data, then learn something about display lists (very well explained it the redbook).

a couple = 2 or 3,

but the nehe demo''s like the fps type demo runs very slowly.
do u have hardware acceleration?
check the faq www.opengl.org for info

Your Savage GFX Card might be the problem. Have you got the latest drivers?
