Hi ! I have a path like: "\\server\sharedname\file.txt" But this file is in the local machine with: "c:\program files\my shared path\x\file.txt" In others words... the file is the same... But... How can I check if the file "\\server\sharedname\file.txt" is the same file than "c:\program files\my shared path\x\file.txt" ? Thank you

you cant. Windows abstraction layer for networking prevents that. You will need to search for yourself.

Its a feature by design.

but if you open the file on the local machine (using the network path), you can check the source of the file handle. Use CreateFile to open of course. I dont know how to check the handle, but i have seen programs that can.
