Cockpit Graphics

i''m thinking of implementing cockpit graphics in opengl, but i''m not sure whether to use the 2d raster graphics, or a texture map onto a 3d plane. which one is faster? (there''s a few instrumentation panels that need to be redrawn, of course) a2k
