Why D3D?

Can someone convince me why I should use Direct3D instead of OpenGL?

This is what I can tell you.

If you want to make cross platform games you use SDL and OpenGL (or just OpenGL for 3D games). To reach the larger PC market and worry about that only then do DirectX/D3D. Either way you''ll get the job. Only other choice is preference.

Knowledge is what you learn, wisdom is how you apply it.

Sorry - this one is just like the hundred of others that are closed. The answer is really the same - it''s only up to which of the APIs you prefer - there are pros and cons to either side.

Bottom line, if you are developing on the PC then either will do just fine.
