I want to pack all the resource files for a game in a single volume file, and write custom functions for retrieving the files. Is it possible to create an ANSI FILE structure that would behave just like any other FILE when passed to functions, except fopen, fread, etc. would call my custom functions? Is this possible with unix file descriptors? Some C++ way of doing this? Some Windows specific way? Is it possible to determine the SDL_LoadBMP (char* bitmap_filename) function to actually call my custom code when reading that bitmap? Some form of linking the file name with my code. If not for Windows then is it possible in Linux?
