could someone tell me how to export a class definition ( ofcourse along with it''s member functions ) to a dll using the DEF file. I know that adding "__declspec(dllexport)" in the source file will do the trick but i want to do it using the DEF file.

A def file provides a means to sidestep name mangling. It allows you to specify the name of the export function yourself. I''m not so well versed on the details of the task - but I seem to recall a recent article here regarding how to go about exporting classes from dlls. Hopefully that will provide you with the answers you seek.
