Ok, i''m in middle of creating a gamelibrary wich will will use DirectX7. The problem (not actually a problem) is that I can''t decide wiether to use my own Surfaces for redering (and just copy my own backbuffer to the Flipable DX surface at the end of each frame) or to use Direx X''s OFFSCREENPLAIN in SYSMEM surfaces.. I have own asm MMX methods for Alpha, colorkeeying etc and all these surfaces will be stored in Sysram. Will I gain any speed by switching to DDSurfaces? Any ideas ot tips would be great! / Tooon

I use the same method yours, and have noticed that making many blit on a memory Surface and then only one blit on the BackBuffer I gain approximately 10fps. With not many blit on the Surface in memory (as an example 3 or 4) I lose instead various fps.
