I have an engine of sorts that runs pretty well. When I added a timer it all went down hill, I know that timers are supposed to slow everything down but it was choppy and un-usable. I was using the Windows Message timer for the timing is this the problem? Can A timer with bad resolution cause choppy game play? -Shadwdrak

Im guessing ur using the timer to control the pace of ur game (refresh rate etc.). I believe the message timer has an accuracy of bout 5 ms. This could cause ur game to look choppy. Id try queryperformancecounter() or timegettime(). Both these function r accurate enough for what u r going to use em for.
