Ok what does it mean? I really would like to know what the GL stands for the most.

Wraith is correct here.

OpenGL began life being known as ''GL'' (short for graphics library) and ''Iris GL'' running on SGI workstations. They eventually decided to make it an open standard, got the ARB (Architecture Review Board) started, and re-christened it ''OpenGL''.
