openAL Buffers

I know this isnt an openAL forum, but it seems to be the nearest one! Is it possible to query an actual buffer to find out if it is playing? I know it is possible to query a source, but as you cannot attach and play the same buffer to two different sources and play it at the same time, how do i know that if i attach a buffer and play the source, it will actually play? I dont fancy checking all my sources against all my buffers to see if the ID is being used! Cheers
