Is there any freeware that simulates Unix/Linux in Window environment ? Instead of installing a new OS (Linux), I simply want a softw that performs Unix tasks, but run in Win. I''ve heard about Uwin. Is there any other good software ? Thanks

Try VMware Workstation.

You could always use Bochs, the x86 virtual machine. Their mainsite has source and binary versions of the Win32 virtual machine and several drive images for linux distros and other free operating systems.
