1: DMUS_OBJECTDESC* pDesc; 2: pDesc->dwValidData = DMUS_OBJ_FILENAME; The program crashes when it reaches line two. Why?

Or:

DMUS_OBJECTDESC* pDesc = new DMUS_OBJECTDESC;
pDesc->dwValidData = DMUS_OBJ_FILENAME;


Then when you no longer need pDesc remember:

delete pDesc;
