Are turn-based games a dying breed? If so why?

I don''t really like to see people calling Diablo an RPG. It it is considered so, it''s just because you have a character to build, and so have Final Fantasy Tactics. Why is the former considered an RPG and the latter is not? Something is weird here.

I''m totally with you there, I don''t consider Diablo a RPG, but it was tagged as such, and after it sold so well the publishers started releasing ''real'' RPGs again. hehe, I''ll conveniently dodge the question of which (if any) computer games are true role playing games.

Go to bed, check it in the morning, go to work, check it when I get back. Let the units move and attack as they will, but at a much slower pace.

Solinear, have you ever played Diplomacy via email? It''s definitely turn based, but it plays out over weeks and months. It''s a great game, free, very suspensful, and games definitely have that epic feel. Check out www.diplom.org
