VB to Mesh?

If I have vertex buffer that uses an FVF, is there a simple way to convert it to a mesh? I want to do this to facilitate determining the mouse position in 3d space on my terrain (the VB), by using the d3dx8.intersect method.

If you want to do mouse intersection stuff, easily, just copy the relevant code form the pick example, it works fine.

That''s what I''m trying to find out!

I am using the ray picking thing absolutely perfectly for all my meshes. That''s why I want to convert the terrain to a mesh, so that I can use the built in functions for picking, because manually checking hit tests on all the tri''s is too slow.
