Please check out my VERY!!! basic particle demo, tell me what kind of FPS you get, your system specs and so on. Source is available if anyone wants it *doubts* and give me feedback, how can I improve it? Follow this link to my page . to get the file. Thanks It''''s nice to be important, but it''''s more important to be nice.
Don't we all still remember and miss the day we plotted our first pixel?

I get 61 FPS on my AMD 1900+, 512MB DDR, GeForce3 Ti-500.

Seems like a low FPS considering its relative simplicity. Try and optimise any functions that are used a lot per frame.
I get 75 FPS on a AMD 1800XP, 384MB DDR, GeForce2 MX200
Well, the fps are locked to the vsync, so dont worry too much. I basically want to know if anyone has any problems running it =D
With DDFLIP_NOVSYNC I get 650fps on Athlon 1333, 256Mb ram and GF3 Ti200
so it's nowhere near slow...

Funny, cause that''s the kinda particle i''ll be making soon.

Anywhooo, "151" fps athlon 700 1022megs ( 133sdram ), Riva TnT 2 16 megs PCI, runing Windows 98, while running outlook express in background.

151 fps!!! you have one mean monitor to have that high refresh rate :D

i notice your particles are all different colors, its a bit easier to just set the vertex color and modulate with the texture. then you can do stuff like color blending real easy.
Well, it would be, unless I''m using direct draw, instead of D3D...
