Saving (or copying) the contents of a hDC.

Hello everyone. I''ve been trying to save the contents of a handle bitmap (or handle Device Context) to a file, but I know that the picturebox itself (in the case of VB) is completely empty, and is just the "host" of the bitmap. Anyhow, when I bitblt something into the handle, is there any way that I can copy those contents to a "real" image? (And, I don''t feel like using API calls for saving the DC; seems kind of a strange method) Thanks in advance. (I know my question is kinda stupid, but I''m just a beginner)
