NeHe Zelda Collision Code help needed.

Hi, I am trying to work out some sort of collision detection for my little tile program, and testing out Zelda that collsion detection for tiles to player collision, would be ok. The problem is I don''t understand the Zelda code! Like how it works with the tiles and opengl coords and player coords etc! if someone would be so kind and maybe explain in newbie-ish how the tile<>Player collision detection is accomplished i would very much appreciate it!
