Right here in Québec, Canada, I did my degree in computer programming. In the C++ courses, we always have been told to create base classes and and inherit after. We often had project which we HAD to inherit something like 4 or 5 classes. I always tough that it was stupid to intentionnaly inherit. Sincerely, I think that inherit is a tool, not a goal... what do you think guys? ---I didn''t wanted to put that in the elis-cool topic, because it''s a little bit off topic

In fairness to teachers, your professor''s goal was probably to teach inheritence--so it was a goal. As a professional, it''s a tool.
