This is not exactly an easy thing to teach in just a post on a message board. Whole books have been written on the subject. Get one of those books. Microsoft just published a book on using Direct3D (called, interestingly enough, "Using Direct3D"). I bought it but I have not read it yet. It does show how to use Direct3D in the context of making a game, however, and is not just a list of API functions.
