screenBuffer = (CHAR_INFO*)malloc(sizeof(CHAR_INFO) * GRID_WIDTH * GRID_HEIGHT);

//this is how i create the screenBuffer var where my class is made

CHAR_INFO *screenBuffer;

This is a line I took from a maze game from gametutorials.com, if fixed my growing console engine... I''m not sure what it does though... I''m going to guess that it makes my screenBuffer variable which is a characterbuffer allocate enough memory for an array by my grid with and height (this is 50 by 20)... Thanks, Kris

That''s basically. The call to malloc() allocates the memory and returns a pointer to it. That pointer is then stored in the variable screenBuffer.
