I wrote a graphics engine using ddraw 7, but I figured it would be better to develop games using the lowest version possible, and I figured 5 would be a good one for my purposes. The only problem is restoring surfaces. It''s handled differently in 7 than in 5. In 7 I can call LPDIRECTDRAW7->RestoreAllSurfaces(), but that does not exist in 5. I''m calling Restore for each surface, but it''s failing each time. Does anyone have any experience in restoring surfaces in this version? I''ve looked at the docs, and they don''t seem to be of much help, or maybe I''m just missing something.

Actually I''m pretty much only using the commands from 3, so I probably will use it. However, my problem still applies, why is the Restore() failing?

What kind of error code does it return?

What might be happening is that not all of the surfaces need restored, so you''re trying to restore ones that aren''t lost. Or perhaps the surfaces are in system memory, so can''t be lost? These are just guesses though.
