DDSCAPS_OWNDC ?

Hi I was reading the DX SDKs manual and i found there this cap: DDSCAPS_OWNDC And only thing what the sdk says is, that surface can have own DC So i was wandering whats the actual meaning of this cap? it would be cool if i wouldt have to GetDC() and release() every time i use gdi text function?
