I find the same thing but I think (if you like MS Press) that if you look for "step by step" books or the oop programming with vb and c# will help you. I have not read the step by step book but their "step by step" books take a tutorial and slow approach to the language, very hands on also meaning alot of typing :D I looked at the "step by step" book for C# and if you like being lead by the hand to do stuff than "step by step" is the way to go. I actually find being lead by the hand is good for learning new things and then extend your knowledge by getting a real book (like the core referances, architectural referance or language referance) are a good next step
