Skinned Mesh confusion

Hey gang, I''m trying to get into skinned meshs by loading them through x files. I''m not sure how this exactly works. Is it the same as loading a x file with keyframes in them except now I have used bones to animate the model with? Also is blender good for creating skinned meshes that can be changed to x files and loaded under directX. I''m sorry if these are really dumb questions. If this is something that has already been explained in depth or if there is a simple phrase that I can type please advice me. Thankyou! ~Wave
