What's the bounding box used for?

Hi. I see bounding box structures in PR_SEGMENT an PR_OBJECT. These seem to be initialized at loadtime. Are those info used in the rendering process? What do you mean ignore them? Not perform collision detection/visibility testing? You have to do collisions yourself, though there are quite simple, and PR does most of the vis testing for you.
