Anybody know why it is that if you want to display your own cursor from a texture file in DirectInput, you seem to only be able to use the NON_EXCLUSIVE tag when setting the cooperative level. It seems to me that generally you would want exclusive access to the mouse.. Maybe it has something to with the fact I''m running on WinXP. -Paul-

I use the EXCLUSIVE mode and it displays my homegrown cursor fine. I created a mouse object that tracks its own position and also knows how to render itself.

It should work. Are you rendering the mouse in your render() function? Are you tracking the position of the mouse on your own? Exclusive access to the mouse requires that you do this.
