Tell me a nice gfx engine for a racing game

I''m on my first DirectX project with no previous DirectX or Win32 experience, and I''m constantly surprised by how difficult it ISN''T!

Once you get through the hard work of setting up your first scene you''ll be well away. Setting the viewport really isn''t that hard, but because it''s the very first thing you have to do, everything is new to you and thats what makes it so tough.

But as an example, I''ve gone from rendering solid objects, to alpha-blended objects with TWO lines of code. One to set the alha-enable on, one to turn it off again!

And because I haven''t used DirectDraw before, it made perfect sense to keep on using D3D for the 2d functions too, with the new D3D sprite functions - All hardware accelerated at rate approaching light speed. (Well, not quite!)

I''m really pleased with the progress I''ve made with D3D recently, give it a shot!
