I''d do anything for a reply to this question ! I have an x. file i used with DX7 and retained mode with VB6. My app loads the X file fast and renders fast on both my P2 with a voodoo banshee and my P2 Laptop. Now I''ve moved to DX8 and VC++ and loading and rendering my x file is unbeleivably slow and for the life of me i cant work out why. If i use the any of the mesh loading samples with the SDK x files everything is cool(fast rendering etc) but if I substitute there file for mine why would it be so slow. Iv''e watched the LoadFileFromX function take 30 secs to load my file. Yes my video card is below average but DX7 retained mode does a wonderful job. please... a response or pointer in the right direction ! thanks Matt
