3D Modeller
What 3D modeller is commonly used for independent game development. I''m trying to find one that I can write a plugin for to export models to my game, and I''m wondering what everyone else uses. (3D Studio and such are way too expensive for me.)
Well, Milkshape is fairly common, also easy to use and has piles of tutorials and file formats. It''s also very cheap (20$/25€). I''ve also seen that many people use Blender (free software), but I''ve never taken the time to learn it myself, so I can''t really say much about it. Good luck with whatever you use :D
The only problems I have found with blender is the lack of filetypes that can be exported to and the fact that it is difficult to learn...
Once you have learnt it, though, it''s by far THE fastest tool to get your models made. and with the fact that it recently became open source, I wouldn''t be surprized if it would be possible to load an entire 3d model - textures, animations and all directly into your source code!
Well - that might be a bit into the future, but check it out none the less ( www.blender.org )
What goes up could stick to the roof...
