The GameDev.net FreeBook is relevant to game designers, developers, and those interested in learning more about the challenges in game development. We know game development can be a tough discipline and business, so we picked several chapters from CRC Press titles that we thought would be of interest to you, the GameDev.net audience, in your journey to design, develop, and market your next game. The free ebook is available through CRC Press by clicking here. The Curated Books The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses, Second Edition, by Jesse Schell Presents 100+ sets of questions, or different lenses, for viewing a game’s design, encompassing diverse fields such as psychology, architecture, music, film, software engineering, theme park design, mathematics, anthropology, and more. Written by one of the world's top game designers, this book describes the deepest and most fundamental principles of game design, demonstrating how tactics used in board, card, and athletic games also work in video games. It provides practical instruction on creating world-class games that will be played again and again. View it here. A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing, by Joel Dreskin Marketing is an essential but too frequently overlooked or minimized component of the release plan for indie games. A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing provides you with the tools needed to build visibility and sell your indie games. With special focus on those developers with small budgets and limited staff and resources, this book is packed with tangible recommendations and techniques that you can put to use immediately. As a seasoned professional of the indie game arena, author Joel Dreskin gives you insight into practical, real-world experiences of marketing numerous successful games and also provides stories of the failures. View it here. An Architectural Approach to Level Design This is one of the first books to integrate architectural and spatial design theory with the field of level design. The book presents architectural techniques and theories for level designers to use in their own work. It connects architecture and level design in different ways that address the practical elements of how designers construct space and the experiential elements of how and why humans interact with this space. Throughout the text, readers learn skills for spatial layout, evoking emotion through gamespaces, and creating better levels through architectural theory. View it here. Hi Jewelaye

The picture of that girl in your first post was very nice, but isn''t she a little skinny? I mean, she seams like she could break on the middle at any moment!?

I sure don''t hope that you''re that skinny youself...

Ummmmm...ok first of all shes skinny...in the game...done in 3d....
uhmmmm im skinny....most of people think im slim and fit..
and you also could define that to skinny....
but its all about what people think is normal weight...for some people a girl is almowst annorectic and for some other shes just normal...and other says shes just slim....so.....

Are you a girl? I forget who the resident female is around here, I just assume I''m talking to all guys.

I''m the kind of guy that''s more into the face and atitude then the body. But chubby girls are so soft! I like that.

It was my wife''s smile that attracted me to her. She has a very cute smile.

Hi, synj.

So you have found your way into the GameDev forum as well.

As always, I love your animations.

For everyone else, you really should visit synj's site and watch his animations. They are really good.

And as I'm already responding to this thread I might as well show you all my dragon again. (Click on it for a larger version)

Jewelaye, I ment "resident" as in local, or where you reside at. Normally people say something like "our resident artist/programmer/etc" to mean that there's only one of those people at that location. Maybe it's just an American term.

Yeah, I'm married, been married for 5 years now. (as of march 10th) Although my spelling might closely match that of a teenager I'm actually 26 year old. (I've been programming for 16 years, if I was a teenager, that'd be quite an accomplishment!)

And to answer your last question, no, my wife doesn't program at all. I can't get her interested one bit. She's not an artist either so I'll never be able to get her here.

Actually, I do a lot of cats. Here''s my site:

www.verica.com/usr/dog

I have some of my art there. (that reminds me, I need to make some thumbnails for my latest drawings...)

Back when I was on BBSs, I almost got kicked off a board because I would write long stories (3+ pages) without checking my spelling enough. They had a simple spell checker but it didn''t work right.

Here''s one I made for someone on a different message board. He writes stories about killer animals from space. He wanted a drawing of a cow with a gun:
