I have a 3D terrain created by 3D Studio Max. There are some mountains in the terrain with some smooth surfaces. When I render this terrain using D3DIM, the mountains seem to obtain some specular properties and appear shiny and also the mountains are not smooth and they seem to have sharp edges. I have switch off the specular property of the D3D device with SetRenderState (D3DRENDERSTATE_SPECULARENABLE, FALSE); What could be the problem. Can anyone help please. Arun

Oh come on, you''re making this 3d stuff look hard!

(I still bear the scars of sorting things like this just a couple of months ago).

Try setting the shading mode to gouraud, somewhere in your D3DInit routine:

lpDevice->SetRenderState(D3DRENDERSTATE_SHADEMODE, D3DSHADE_GOURAUD );

Bye
