There is a componentized download from the MSDN website for VC++ or VBasic only, which are smaller, though both are large. The VC++ is 124megs, while the VBasic is 90megs.
The d3d8.h file will link to more files you don't have. I don't think theres any use trying to get just that one file, it won't do any good without the whole SDK.
If you have a problem transfering such large files, try spanning it across several ZIP media. Or, you could burn it to a CD.
Heres the componentized download URL: http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/sample.asp?url=/MSDN-FILES/027/001/770/msdncompositedoc.xml
links are on the right.
Good luck.

Yep as it has already been mentioned. I have the book to but the cd''s sdk sucks and won''t load right. So I downloaded it off microsofts web site. But then again I have DSL. And sirob is right your eventually gonna need the whole sdk kit (you really can''t get by with just thatone file). Try downloading the pieces or just set it up to download and let it go for a couple days (just make sure it dosn''t time out). Or get one of the file splitters to download it. If Jim Adams is still around I just want to say the book is being quite helpful. But any idea why the sdk kit is screwed up?
The only thing that defines man from animal is our knowledge of computer programming.

Is there any work around this as there is no way i can get any down load more the about 95MB as i have no acess to any media able to hanle more than that at the moment.
Thanks
Thanks
For some reason, it seems some of the cds went out bad. Most of them were fine from what I can tell, only a small portion of them had problems. Unfortunatelly, it does seem that you may have to download the SDK. Microsoft is very vigilent against people that redist the SDK without their permission, so I can''t split it apart to download.
Woody FX:
Download the file, uncompress it.
Take out all the samples and crap you''re not going to use.
Compress what''s left.
Ship on Zip Disk.
Alternative: Use winzip for multiple disk archives or winrar(my
fave choice(better compression than zip, but a bit slower)) for
a multi-part archive.
