do you have to redefine virtual functions?

lets say you make a class with a virtual function, and then inherit from it. do you have to rewrite the virtual function? or does it keep the class that you derived from''s function until you redefine it?

It keeps it until you explicitely override it. Unless it is a pure virtual function, in which case you have to override it.
