Tutorials on boolean operations?

I don''t think I''m sure what the question is.

Boolean operations only operate on... well... booleans.

You could overload the operators, but this is done in an arbitrary way that I think would have to be program specific.

Do your web search for "constructive solid geometry" or similar.

They are boolean-like operations, but if you think more along the lines of set operations (ie, union, intersection, difference) then it may be easier to picture.

non-realtime CSG is really pretty simple, you just partition the polygons of each object with the planes defined by the polygons of the other object, classify the resulting polys as belonging to object A, B or the intersection set and what you do then depends on the operation, i.e. for union, you discard the intersection set, for intersection you discard the objects and leave the intersection set, etc.
