Does anyone have any tips/ideas of what should be incorporated in a game menu/GUI engine? Here is a small list of ideas that come to my mind right now: - Mouse support - Keyboard support - Window UI - Buttons (With Text) - Animations (?) Any feedback/ideas/tips would be great. Bitmap buttons (w/ maybe text overlays)
State-changing bitmap buttons would be best (rollover, regular, clicked on)
Sounds (triggered by the button state changes?)
Maybe theme support if you plan on using this in more than one game or something.
Maybe a 3D background w/ things going on (such as in Warcraft III, though I just found that made the menu laggier and there was no point to look at it after the first few times.... so just make some flowing ambient thingy)
