will different formats play in DSound?

Will DirectSound sound buffers that have been created with a different format than the primary buffer still play (as in, DirectSound converting the data in them whenever it needs to)?

But it is highly recommended that your sounds be of the same format as the primary buffer. The reason being that a runtime conversion is done by DirectSound if the formats aren''t the same, incurring some unnecessary overhead.
