Translucency in DirectDraw

Hello! I''m looking for a library or a set of functions that can do translucency on ddraw surfaces. The ones i have found here on gamedev.net only supports blending the whole surface. I would do it myself if i only knew asm and mmx(speed is critical), the tests i done so far is really slow. Merry Christmas!
