Win2K and DX SDK?

It says in the following in the readme of the DirectX SDK: On Windows 2000 or Windows XP, You must be logged on as an administrator before installing the DirectX 8.1 SDK, installing the runtime, using any of SDK tools, or running any of the SDK samples. So do I have to be logged on as an Admin before I can follow tutorials using VC++?

That''s what it sounds like, though I can''t believe that''s the case. For the install I can believe it, but just to use the SDK?! Why not just try it, if you''re not an admin on the box?

That just means that the account you are logged in as must be a member of the admin group. That is because it will be updating system files, and general users are not allowed to do that on Win2K and XP. By default a general user on XP is usually an admin, but on Win2K, you may have to check...
