I am including the diffuse color as part of my FVF, but given an RGB value, how do I use that as a DWORD? Is there a built-in function in DX8 that does this, or will I need to make my own bit shifting macro to do this? Thanks.

for 32 bit colors you could use thit bit stuff

DWORD color = (alpha << 0) + (blue << 8) + (green << 16) + (red << 24);
