I''m programming for a while now and I''ve finished the things like Tetris and Pong and want to start something bigger. For a project for school I need to write a game in one year with 6 persons. I don''t need to finish it, the experience we gain with it will be the most important(In Holland you need to make some paper on the end of the secondary school, you get 1 one year for it just to show what you have learned. If you do your best you will get a G(ood) and you may take a part in your finals).. So now I wanted to write a ''real'' game engine. The only problem I have is how to start? I read many times that many people need to rewrite there whole engine, what did they wrong? How could I avoid it? I want to make it completely OO with C++ but how do you guys do that? In your winmain funtion you just say: game.init, game.run? Which functions do you use? Are there any articles about how to structure a 3d engine or some good book? Thnx in advance
