I would recommend the book "Computer Animation Aglorithms and Techniques" by Rick Parent (ISBN 1-55860-579-7). It is an excellent book on the theories of computer animation and it has a large section devoted toward making your own bone animation and inverse kinematics systems.

Hope that helps,

A good place to start would be learning all about Matrix maths.

I recenetly developed my own skeletal model format, and that is what took me the longest to get working right.
Thanks Duck17, I was about to post asking this same question, I''ve been looking for resources on that and the book looks good.
Heya,

well, shameless plug, but I''ve got some info on my custom made absolutely JUNK inverse kinematics system.
Check it out by going to:
http://www.hacsimile.co.za/tisfat/
and go to the SDK/Source code part, you''ll see a link to my "article" there. I''m going to make it a LOT better...

So. I''m in South Africa, does that mean my 2 cents is only worth 0.2 cents to everyone else?
