Unresolved external Symbol stuff

I''m fairly new to C++ and DirectX. I''m reading a book on it that includes source code...it compiles fine, but during the Linking, I get unresolved external symbol _main. Dunno =/

Generally that means you''ve created a win32 application and pasted some source code in that has a main function. win32 application will be expecting a full gui windows starting point, which is called winmain.

To fix this just create a "Win32 Console Application" and paste your code in to that...

Other way around.

It''s looking for a main which does not exist. It sounds like your project is a "Win32 Console Application". When starting a project, choose "Win32 Application" instead.
