Hey, I''m working on an off-road driving game and I was wondering if anybody knows the method by which most developers apply shadows under a vehicle? I have looked into multitexturing a little bit, and it does work, but there seem to be a few limitations and difficulties. I was also worried about compatibility between 3D cards. Does anybody know whether most recent cards (around a TNT and up) support multitexturing or not? Anyway, if anybody has the low-down on this stuff, or can point me to a good information source I would be very appreciative. thanks.

Voodoo2 cards and up support multitexturing (using 2 textures). However, for shadows under vehicles, I expect most developers just approximate the shape with very few polygons and render them (with some transparency if desired) after rendering the road (but before rendering the vehicle).
