Professional DDRAW programming?????

Yes, bltFast and Blt are very fast... if you''re having your
surfaces in VideoRam. When blitting vid-sys and sys-sys, DD will not use the gfxboards HW blit(NOTE: as far as I know). DD will instead use it''s HEL blitter wich I think you could beat with a good optimized asm-mmx blitter.

To the first post :
I sure think that most gamedeveloper use the basic methods in DD like blitting, colorkeeying etc etc. But these are as i said, basic. To make a game look good, there is alot of tricks, thinking and hacking involved (and of course, great artists!). What I mean is that it is not these mthods themselves that makes the game goodlooking, it''s how you use them. DirectDraw wont make the game look professional for you, if so, then every DD coder would be working in the game-industry today
